On Military Service

When speaking about his military service, he considers himself fortunate to have been a soldier and to have experienced a life that only a few will ever truly understand.

Not many people can say they’ve had a tank roll over them, thrown live hand grenades, operated million-dollar weapon systems, flown in helicopters just feet above the tree line banking through canyons, rappelled from buildings and aircraft, jumped out of airplanes, navigated miles of rugged terrain with only a compass and topographical map, or jumped sand dunes in a Humvee in a foreign country.

But beyond the training and experiences, what stands out most is the camaraderie — the unbreakable bond shared between soldiers who trained, served, and stood together. It is that brotherhood that continues to shape his commitment to serving veterans today.
