BONDS

VFW Department of Arizona – Bonding Information

Why Bonding is Important

Bonding protects the assets of your Post, District, or Department by providing financial security in the event of loss due to fraud, theft, or dishonesty by individuals in positions of fiscal responsibility. It is a vital safeguard for our organization’s integrity and financial health.

Who Needs to Be Bonded?

·        ALL signers on checking accounts and savings accounts must be bonded for the amount in the checking account.

·       Anyone with access to cash must be bonded for the amount they have access to.

·       A post is not required to bond through National’s partner, but all accountable officers must be covered by a surety bond. A dishonest employee insurance policy does not comply with VFW Bylaws.

If you or your organization handles money on behalf of the VFW, you must be bonded.

Bond Amount

·       NEW: Minimum bond amount is $3,000.

The bond must cover at least the maximum amount of liquid assets (including cash, checking, savings, and investment accounts) that the bonded individual may access at any given time during the year. It is strongly encouraged to review your accounts and ensure your bond matches the potential exposure.
