Our Mission

The VFW Department of Arizona Chaplains provide spiritual and emotional support, conduct memorial observances, assist during hospital and hospice visits, and represent the VFW at community and ceremonial events.

  • Veteran wellness support (hospital, hospice, home, nursing home)
  • Transportation trips for the direct benefit of veterans
  • Community service events where the Chaplain represents the VFW (funerals, memorials, flag ceremonies, public observances)
  • Training and continuing education for chaplaincy support

How Chaplains Help

Examples of reportable chaplain activity include:

  • Visits to veterans in hospital/hospice/home/nursing home settings
  • Transportation trips for the direct benefit of veterans
  • Funerals, memorials, and public ceremonies where the Chaplain represents the VFW
  • Flag raisings, POW/MIA ceremonies, and community remembrance events

Note: Transportation and contacts should be reported only when for the direct benefit of veteran(s). Other services may be included as community service.
