I am proud to be part of a family with a long line of military service. My three grandfathers (USMC, Army & Coast Guard) served in WWII and Korea; my two uncles (USMC), my father (USMC), and my husband (USAF) all served in Vietnam.
In 1978 under the eligibility of my father, I joined the Sierra Vista Jr. Girls Unit to Auxiliary 9972. At the age of 16, I joined the VFW Auxiliary of which I have been a life member for 44 years.
I moved to Florida in 1981 to pursue my degree at the University of Florida. After obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in Special Education, I stayed in Florida where I taught special needs students. I later earned a Masters in Special Education from Valdosta University. I met my husband, and we were married in 2002. In 2005, we made the move to Sierra Vista to be closer to my family. At that time, I got more involved in the VFW Auxiliary. I am currently the Auxiliary Treasurer, Department Assistant Treasurer, Webmaster and Newsletter Editor. On the National level, I am the National Conductor.
I retired from teaching in May of 2020 after 29 years.
My husband and I have one fur baby, Sunny who is 4 years old. I enjoy watching college sports, especially Florida Gators, reading, traveling and spending time with my family.
